On this page we want to give you – the students – an overview of the platforms and tools you may encounter during your studies.

The TeachCenter is the learning management system of TU Graz. Not every course has an online course, but very many do. Teachers use these online courses to share files with you, but possibly also interactive activities or forums. Online exams can take place here too. As soon as you are registered for a course in TUGRAZonline, you get access to the corresponding online course by the following day at the latest – if one exists.

Another TeachCenter feature is the calendar. Besides deadlines from TeachCenter courses, it shows your course dates and possible exam dates.

Besides the main TeachCenter there is a second TeachCenter instance designed specifically for online exams. You get access to an online exam course when you are registered in TUGRAZonline for an exam that is held online.

Other exam platforms used at TU Graz are KnowledgeCheckR and Gradescope. In KnowledgeCheckR exams, photos of you can be taken at irregular intervals via your webcam during the online exam; examiners review them afterwards for irregularities. Gradescope is used for so-called scan exams: you write the exam by hand and the examiners grade it digitally.

If you take online exams outside a lecture hall or seminar room, teachers may run exam supervision via video conferencing, or you may be asked to use the Safe Exam Browser.

TU Graz uses two video conferencing systems: Webex and BigBlueButton.

Webex works with its own application/app as well as in the browser on different devices. BigBlueButton runs through the TeachCenter.

When videos are provided for a course, or a course is streamed, you receive these recordings via the TUbe video platform. If a course has videos on TUbe, the corresponding TeachCenter course links to the course’s TUbe series. You can also go to TUbe directly and find the videos there. Most courses are set up so that you can only watch the videos if you are registered for the course.

The online course “SelbstOrganisiert im Studium” teaches you important basics about TU Graz as well as soft skills that help during your studies.

The online course “Digitale Kompetenzen für Studienanfänger:innen” (digital skills for first-year students) is most relevant at the start of your studies but helps later on too. It comes with an accompanying course that can be credited as an elective.
