Digital Interaction

Many digital tools let you provide interactive exercises for your students or interact with students online. Students can also use these tools to work on tasks together.

Interactive exercises

The TeachCenter offers many interactive task types for creating exercises and actively involving your students. See the page Digital Materials and TeachCenter.

A special mention goes to H5P, a plugin that inserts quiz questions and links directly into videos – and offers many more task types independent of videos.

Even large courses such as lectures can include interactive exercises. Use audience response systems such as Feedbackr or Slido, which is integrated into Webex, for polls and votes.

Working on tasks together

Video conferencing tools such as Webex and BigBlueButton offer several ways of working on tasks or documents together. You can create breakout rooms, use a shared whiteboard, or create polls for participants to answer.

If you need digital spaces that are always available, TU Graz chat and Webex Teams let you create a digital area for a group or team and send chat messages, images and more.

For file storage and collaborative work on documents, the TU Graz cloud is available to all staff and students.

A method that fosters self-directed, student-centred learning is the jigsaw method (Gruppenpuzzle), explained in a TELucation article.

Video conferencing

For video conferences (such as online courses), TU Graz provides Webex and BigBlueButton. Webex has its own application and also runs in the browser; BigBlueButton is used directly from a TeachCenter course.

Both video conferencing tools can also be used for exam supervision. Please observe the legal requirements.

Some lecture halls and seminar rooms are equipped with a Webex video conferencing system that you can use for hybrid teaching.
